Gamified Learning Design

As a member of a Learning & Development team, the organization that I was part of had a lot of great training content created throughout the years, but there was no easy way for employees to access it. Training was still being completed purely through instructor led courses, printed manuals, and physical checklists. To help better support our employees, Centrical was launched to the entire organization.

Centrical, a learning management system built around real time performance management, microlearnings, and gamification was chosen after an intense research period. To support learning, multiple games were developed based upon various job types’ career progression, with custom interactions, carefully thought out learning paths, and various reward systems designed to keep learners engaged.

With detailed planning and new content that was designed to be relevant to multiple learning groups, more than 1000 users were successfully onboarded onto the platform and more than 250 activities were made available within the first six months.

The success of this platform was thanks to understanding the motivations of the learners engaging with the platform and developing content, challenges, and reward feedback loops that kept them motivated and returning for more.

How it looked

Custom gamification and detailed career paths and reward structures kept learners engaged no matter where they were in their training completion.

With more than half of the user base on mobile devices, all interactions, activities, and trainings had to be developed with quick, mobile learning in mind.
